Why We Age

As we grow older, the lower one third of the face increases in volume and appears to widen.  The Nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowls increase.  The middle third looses volume and proportionately narrows.  There is decreased volume in the malar eminences, infraorbital hollows, cheeks, temples and chin.

Fat pockets become disproportionate rather than harmonious transitions as seen in youth.  The jaw line becomes scalloped; jowls form and the cheek blends with the neck.  The brows descend, the nasal tip and chin droop and the lips become thinner and flatter.

Volume restoration and facial contouring is one of the major goals of any rejuvenation procedure.  Skilled injectors can restore volume to areas of deficiency and camouflage areas of fullness.

As we age, the face experiences changes.  Wrinkles, lines, gravity, loss of elasticity, bone re-absorption and loss of volume rob the face of a youthful appearance, giving it a tired, sad look.  Fortunately, with the dawn of facial muscle relaxants and fillers, we have numerous, non invasive options to treat many aspects of the aging face.  In doing so, we restore facial harmony, balance and beauty.
